Colors speak all languages – Joseph Addison
They most certainly do. We use color to speak our minds and reflect our emotions. We see ‘RED’ when we are angry. We feel ‘BLUE’ when we are down. We use green to convey envy and bring the outdoors in. Yellows and oranges represent joy and happiness. Color is all around us and there is no denying that it influences our moods and emotions.
And baby Willow’s playful Aurora nursery is a reflection of mom and interior designer Sydney Burns love for all things color. Bubble gum pink and seafoam green on the walls infuse the room with a sense of joy and lightness. Unicorn motifs all around the room add a touch of whimsy. The Aurora Nursery Collection, with its ribbon bow scroll work and gorgeous headboard, doubles the charm of this sweet nursery.

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
Inspiration for the room really came from my love of color and wanting a space that screamed imagination.
What drew you to Evolur over other nursery brands?
We are really big on low/zero waste our home, we do a lot of second hand furniture that I reupholster/paint/repair to help keep furniture out of landfills. But with my daughter’s furniture, that just wasn’t something I was willing to go second hand on for safety reasons. So I was really pleased when I found Evolur and saw that the crib is convertible all the way to a full sized bed. This bedroom set will be able to last my daughter all the way through her adolescent years.
Why did you pick Evolur?
We picked Evolur because it fit with our family values of reducing and reusing as well as the fact that the aesthetic of the furniture pieces is just unlike anything I’ve seen. I just could not even continue to look at any other pieces once I saw the Aurora collection. It was too perfect and I just had to have it!
What does this color scheme mean to you?
I chose this color scheme because it is made up of my favorite colors, they give the room an extremely happy and bright energy that is basically impossible to feel sad in.
What accessories did you choose and why?
We chose to go with Fantasy fields accessories because they are so whimsical and flow so well with the Aurora line from Evolur as well as the white wicker baskets.
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite design element of the nursery, aside from the color choices is definitely the Aurora furniture. I love how whimsical they are as well as how they are designed to convert and last throughout a child’s life.
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
I plan on using these pieces throughout my daughter’s life. If she decides she’s no longer a fan of the color, we will just paint the furniture in the colors she prefers. But as of right now we are LOVING the soft silvery grey.
What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Happiness! It’s so bright and welcoming, everything just feels so light and happy. It’s one of our favorite rooms in the house and we love spending hours there playing and making up imaginary worlds.
