“The world is but a canvas to our imagination” – Henry David Thoreau
For mom Laseandia, her little man Michael Pounds Jr’s nursery was the canvas and boy, did she wield her imagination to create a one-of-a-kind nursery!
The star of this nursery is undoubtedly the Evolur Aurora 5-in-1 Convertible Crib in Akoya Grey (Pearl) placed against a backdrop of magical, snow capped mountains and twinkling stars. The yellow of the sky provides a cheerful break from the more sophisticated greys that dominate the room.
The Evolur Aurora Double Dresser is placed on the wall adjacent to the crib, with little puffs of clouds rising from behind. A comfy nursing chair occupies a space opposite the crib. As is always the case, it’s the little, personal touches that add charm to the nursery. A yellow throw, received as a wedding gift, adds a pop of color to the nursery. As do the cute, elephant stuffed toys and rocking chair. But the most special of all has to be the beautiful heirloom wooden horse that carries with a lot of family memories.
With animal motifs and nature elements present throughout, the nursery reflects an outdoorsy vibe. Here’s wishing little Michael many adventures in this beautiful space with his loving family.
Read on to find out how mom Laseandia went about creating this unconventional yet charming nursery –
What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
I was trying to set the nursery up without knowing the gender so I knew I would come back and add additional colors.
What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
I was looking for a particular color and style.
Did the room pose any design challenges?
Yes, I initially wanted a twinkle twinkle little star theme but ended up with the mountain painting. I kept seeing the quote that said Let Him (or Her) sleep because when they awake they will move mountains.
Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
I made an executive decision on the style of the nursery. He wanted a white crib and no dresser lol. He now loves everything about the nursery that I picked.
What does this color scheme mean to you?
I love the color grey and the yellow was selected because its bright and my high school professor sent me a yellow hand-knit throw for my wedding gift.
What accessories did you choose and why?
Because I have 2 girlfriends that are Deltas they gave me elephant stuff for my baby shower. Hence the stuffed animals and elephant child rocking chair was selected. My husband contributed the rocking horse which was his father’s and his and now my son’s rocking chair.
Literally each wall has a different theme to catch your eyes.
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
I love the dresser mostly
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
We will convert the crib into his toddler bed and use the dresser for his toddler clothes… not sure if the theme will change when he gets older.
