The 2nd and final part of Lisa Nicole’s baby girl Mackenzie’s nursery coverage features a small interview. As always!
What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
My husband and I knew we really wanted to have a neutral tone to the room. Grey was our starter color before we found out the gender. That way we could go either way- pink or blue. I wanted to add pops of pink and gold among the grey wall and furniture to make it really pop. I also love how the grey can transition when she grows older and can be added with any other accent colors she likes when she grows up.
What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
The quality of the furniture and design. It’s made sturdy, and very beautiful. We love that the crib can convert to a toddler bed and a kids bed! We also love that the topper can come off the dresser when we no longer need it and we don’t have to get rid of an entire piece of furniture or rearrange any pieces.
Did the room pose any design challenges?
Yes. Because we have a smaller room we had to strategically place the crib, dresser and glider without making the room seem too small. We chose to have a removable changing topper on the dresser instead of having an extra piece of furniture solely for changing diapers. It’s a great option for those who don’t have a large space!
Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
We agreed on the grey. He originally wanted to paint the walls pink, but I knew the grey would last longer as it isn’t “too girly” for when she is a teenager. There’s so many directions you can go with grey!
What accessories did you choose and why?
We chose simple accessories, I didn’t want the room to feel too cluttered. A simple bookshelf to hold her books, a tall side table next to the dresser to hold essentials such as burp cloths, bibs, swaddles, and extra blankets. I knew I wanted a little table next to the glider for when I feed her, read to her and rock her. I’m able to keep my phone and water bottle with me and have a place to set it down on.
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite is the crib and the monogram and florals above it. I love how it ties everything together.
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
I absolutely love that the crib converts to a toddler bed as well as a big size bed! It will last us a long time and is a beautiful sturdy piece of furniture. Also, if we ever have a boy, it’s not too girly where we can’t reuse it. It’s the perfect gender neutral for any room!
What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Comforting and elegant.
