A bohemian girl nursery that is all about joy and free spirit! (Part 1 of 3)

What do you do when you have a big imagination but have a space that doesn’t quite match that? Well, you do something similar to what mom Nicki Odom did – You use the space you have smartly while still allowing your creativity to flow. And lo and behold, you have a nursery that simply makes your jaw drop.

This bohemian, pink and oh-so-girly nursery is such a beautiful and joyful declaration of love! We had read somewhere that love is a key ingredient for creativity. That statement makes profound sense to us now that we have seen this nursery and read mom Nicki’s account of how she went about creating this utterly dreamy space for her baby. Her unbridled enthusiasm to create a joyful and happy place for her little girl warms our hearts.

Since, the nursery was going to be in the guest bedroom, along with a full-size bed, Nicki had to get really creative with the way she carved out a special space for Baby Caroline. She got the Dream On Me Violet 7-in-1 Lifestyle Convertible Crib in White and placed it on the wall opposite the bed while adding a generous dose of pink to the nursery. She placed the Dream On Me Emily Changing Table in White, on the same wall, next to the Violet crib and arranged all of Baby Caroline’s diaper supplies, blankets, and burp cloths neatly on it along with a diaper changing pad. To make the room look airy, Nicki kept all the elements of the room light and bright. With a calming Blush Pink color on the walls, the nursery acquires a playful and joyful vibe.

Our smallest family members are usually the ones who require the most storage! We absolutely love the open storage system that Nicki created next to the changing table. With enough space to hang up most of Baby Caroline’s pretty little outfits, Nicki managed to create a storage solution without losing any of the airiness of the room. The chest of drawers, fitted with drawer dividers and placed next to the guest bed, provides much-needed extra storage while giving Nicki a space to showcase pretty little accents. We particularly love this sweet and powerful message – “Though she is but little, she is fierce”. We think this perfectly reflects mom Nicki’s wish and dream for her baby girl.

The d4ecor of the nursery, we feel, is a direct reflection of the kind of person Nicki hopes for little Caroline to grow up to be. The decor has a free spirit to it with a generous splash of tropical elements. The wall is filled with handpicked and quirky accents that give this nursery so much character. Our favorites are the gorgeous crib mobile, handmade by Nicki’s friend, and the alphabet signage with a charming flower canopy, on top of the Violet crib. The adjacent wall has a heartwarming sketch of a mother and baby giraffe. Flamingo and pineapple elements are sprinkled all over the room giving the room a very Hawaiian vibe.

Every nursery tells a story. And this one is no exception. For us, the biggest takeaway is that if you are passionate and truly want that “something special”, your heart and mind will work together to make the most incredible things happen.
