What do you get when you marry dad’s love for nature with mom’s love for everything white and nice? You get an outdoor themed boy nursery that is the epitome of rustic chic!

“My husband is a darker tone lover and I am all about the light and bright. So we did both and we both love the room.” – Mom, Chelsie Dallas

Mom Chelsie Dallas blended her vision for her little boy Hudson’s nursery with elements that dad was passionate about and created a stylish nursery that is timeless in its appeal. Baby Hudson’s nursery, with its beautiful amalgamation of light and dark shades and contemporary pieces with more traditional ones, sets the stage for a sophisticated space that is also inviting and comfortable.

The first step to creating a rustic chic nursery is picking the right furniture and we love Chelsie’s choice of the Dream On Me Bailey 5-in-1 Convertible Crib in White. The Bailey, with its strong wood elements and contemporary white finish is the perfect pick for a rustic chic nursery. And we love how the Bailey’s sophisticated style will complement any theme as little Hudson grows and the crib is converted into a toddler, day or full size bed.

The second step is to pick the right colors and the wood, brown and gray color pallette picked by Chelsie and her husband, are a perfect match for an outdoor themed, rustic nursery. The wooden cube storage piece, rustic wooden lamp and the wooden name sign all lend an undeniable warmth and woodsy feel to the space. Off white walls, the Dream On Me Bailey crib in white and a white dresser give the room a modern touch and feeling of airiness and spaciousness.

The third and a very important step in creating a delightful rustic nursery is picking accents and accessories that add character and depth to the space. Mountain-shaped bookends that frame a baby book collection, an outdoor themed sign, animal decals on the walls and a cute fox hamper bring the outdoors inside in a fun yet chic way.

The fourth element in creating the nursery of your dreams is the use of textiles to give your nursery a feeling of coziness and warmth. We think the playful animal bedding set and comfortable gray rocking chair do the job perfectly!

“How is it possible that out of all the little boys in the whole world we got the best one?”

Well, one thing we can say for sure is that little Hudson got the best parents one could hope for. Parents who will nurture him, shower him with love and let him become the best version of himself. We welcome Hudson and his parents to the Dream On Me family and wish them a lifetime of memories in this beautiful Dream On Me Bailey nursery that they dream up for their special little guy.

Love this nursery as much as we do? Read on to find out how Chelsie went about creating it –

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
The inspo for our nursery was the fact that my husband loves anything and everything outdoors and so we just knew our little man would too. I was loving all of the woodsy tones that came with that particular theme so I was totally fine with it.

What drew you to Dream On Me over other nursery brands?
The style and affordability is what drew us to choose Dream On Me over other nursery brands. Some of the other brands can get so expensive and with a new baby on the way that was just not something that we were looking for. We purchased it based on the good reviews as well as the price point. It seemed nice and was the most cost efficient.

Did the room pose any design challenges?
Our home is older and was a fixer upper when we moved in about 3 years ago. So when it came time to do our nursery there were some things that didn’t line up with our design ideas. We wanted to use corner shelves for our little guys nightlight and baby monitor. However, when my husband went to install said corner shelves, the corners were not a perfect 90 degrees so the corner shelves were out as they did not align properly to be able to mount to the walls. We had to reevaluate and think of another plan.

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
My husband and I agreed on the design theme for the most part. He initially didn’t want white furniture for the room but once we started incorporating darker wood tones he was fine with it. We both got a little of what we wanted in the space.

What does this color scheme mean to you?
The color scheme to me means compromise. My husband is a darker tone lover and I am all about the light and bright. So we did both and we both love the room.

What accessories did you choose and why?
The accessories that we chose for the nursery are mostly based around the outdoor theme with a couple things personalized to him. His book ends are shaped like mountains and his nightlight projects a forest landscape. But we also have a wood cut out of his name and a large wooden H to represent the first letter of his name.

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
I would have to say my favorite piece in the nursery is his rocking chair. Not because of what it looks like or what it is but because he and I spend so much of our time together there. I have been rocking him and singing him to sleep in that little gray rocker for a whole year now and it is such a special place for me.

Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
When I look around the room, I do think of how I will continue to use certain pieces of the nursery down the road. I think a lot of what we have in there now can be used later on in his life as well.

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
I love the cut out of his name so I know that that will carry on with him through the years. I also love his wooden cube organizer. I feel like that can be very versatile and can be used for many different room designs. There is also a sign that is hung in the nursery now that says, “Stay Wild My Child” and I love it more and more as he is getting older. It is so fitting for our little wild man and it is very neutral so I think we will continue to use that in other room designs for him as well.

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
One word that comes to mind when we step into Hudson’s nursery is, love.
