Here’s an interview with Baby Jennalyn’s mamma about her fairytale princess nursery. We hope you enjoy this. Do tell!
What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
Evens & I have always talked about having a little girl after 2 boys. We would joke about how she would be our spoiled little princess. When we found out we were having a girl, we immediately knew we wanted her nursery design and décor to be princess royalty.
What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
We were drawn to evolur over other nursery brands because we wanted her nursery to look simple, but elegant while keeping the princess feel. What we liked about the evolur aurora set was that it was elegant and girly, but also would still be beautiful and suffice when converted as she gets older. We found that most traditional nursery sets wouldn’t give us that long-term usage.
Did the room pose any design challenges?
The shape and size of the room posed a small challenge for us. We wanted to include all of the pieces of the Aurora collection in the nursery, but were unable to find a way to arrange the furniture to include the Armoire in it without making the nursery feel small and cluttered.
Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
We agreed on the design style for the room. However, the decorating was more of me and Nanna’s job. Dad stayed out of my way until we needed his muscles.
What does this color scheme mean to you?
The color scheme we chose were multiple soft pinks and grays. We chose these colors because they were soft and girly to us. We liked that the colors were not bright and overwhelming. Instead it was soft and calming, but still stimulating.
What accessories did you choose and why?
- Pink Heart & Diamond Chandelier: We believed you could not have a princess room without a beautiful sparkly chandelier. It added instant elegance to the room as soon as you walk in it.
- Silver bed crown with Fleur de Lis designed teester and white canopy sheers: We wanted her crib to include a canopy. I had the idea to put a crown over the crib and when we found the bed crown that included the canopy we had to have it. It was an added bonus that it included a fleur-de-Lis design for our Louisiana baby.
- Silver Fleur-de-Lis Wall Sconces: We chose these because it matched the color and design of the bed crown and would give an added touch on each side of the crib, while also centering the crib to draw more attention to it.
- Chandelier Lamp and pink flower arrangement inside a carriage on top of the night stand.
- Gray and white rocking chair and ottoman, with a pink pillow that says “Our little princess”.
- A crown and chandelier painting on each side of the window: To add to the princess theme.
- A large silver mirror over the dresser with small pink and gray quote pictures (& though she be but little she is fierce/Let her sleep for when she wakes she will move mountains) on each side of the mirror.
- A white rug, a silver crown light switch plate cover with pink gem.
- A mannequin with peals and feathered skirt in the corner of the room to add a classy and girly feel.
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
I love the crib. I believe the color and design just makes it speak for itself. I love everything about it. The color, the design, the fact that it will last for years. I just think it is beautiful. It is definitely my favorite piece.
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
We have discussed how we feel that the items we put in her room are items that can easily be transitioned into a toddler or young child’s room. We plan to use the pieces of furniture all the way throughout the conversion of the crib to a full size bed.
Is this your first baby?
This will be our Third baby. We have two boys named Donavyn and Jayden. Our baby girls name will be Jennalyn Destiny.
What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Gorgeous!
