Q & A with Christina Olechnowski – Part 2
In this part, Christina talks about the other aspects of her baby boy’s nursery – the accessories she picked and why and how she sees this nursery further down the road.
What accessories did you choose and why?
Some of the accessories we chose in the room are the library section, quote of the trains, and the train canvas. When the invitations for my baby shower were sent out, we asked for everyone to bring a book and write a note inside of it in lieu of a card. We received so many books and knew that we wanted to have a section to display them. We chose two different size shelves and displayed the books with a Dr. Suess quote on top. On the other wall, I wanted a decal in navy blue that related to trains. My best friend Kristen created both of the quotes into decals and helped hang it up. I feel that it adds character to the room and is sentimental that my son’s aunt was in helping design in. The train canvas painting was done by Kristen’s sister-in-law, Krystal. I told her the vision I had for the canvas, along with some sample photo ideas and told her the colors I wanted. She took what I said and created the most perfect and beautiful train!
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite piece and design in the room is the accent wall containing my son’s name and the crib. My father, Michael, painted the accent wall in stripes for me just how I wanted it. He put so much time and effort into creating the perfect nursery for his grandson and we are forever thankful and blessed to have him in our lives. I bought letters from Michael’s and he hung them up about the crib. After the crib was placed underneath it, it was even more perfect than I envisioned.
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
I have decided that this will be the set that I will use for all of my children. I am in love with the design and color and happy that it can go with any color scheme or design I choose. I also feel that it will hold sentimental value knowing that all of my children were able to use it. After the last child uses the crib, we will continue to use it and convert it into the different stages until it becomes a full bed.
What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Blessed.
