As always, part 2 of our beautiful nurseries features presents a mini-interview with the proud Mom or Dad. Here, Taylor Ziencina talks about her baby boy Carter’s nursery.
Taylor shared a little story with us about how Baby Carter had a say in this nursery even before he was born! In her words:
“Well during my pregnancy we were looking to purchase our first home, we put in offer on a house and I was taking my father and mother in law to see the house when my water broke in the house, we then headed straight to the hospital however that house ended up falling through and three days after Carter was born we went and looked at another house and made an offer and it got accepted. I guess Carter wanted to give his input and thoughts on the whole home buying process. Ha!”

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
We chose a sports theme for Carters room because my husband Kevin and I both played sports in college, Baseball (Dad at UCR) and Soccer (mom at CSUSM)
What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
We first saw Evolur at the JPMA baby show and the quality and design of the furniture drew us to choosing them.
Did the room pose any design challenges?
Not any challenges although we could have used more space to incorporate more sports pictures and design
Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
My husband and I both agreed on the theme since it fit both of our lifestyles and we hope our son Carter will fall in love of sports like we did 🙂
What does this color scheme mean to you?
We went with blue because its my husbands favorite color plus blue was part of both our colleges colors.
What accessories did you choose and why?
We choose to accessories with sports themed items such a sports pillows and stars on his bedsheets.
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite piece is actually a peg board that has Carters name and is a diaper holder, my father built this from scratch so it has a personal touch to it.
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
Luckily the evolur set can turn into his forever bed so as he grows we plan to keep the bed with him and just add more sports related décor. My husband also has bed sheets from when he was a child with baseball teams on them that we hope to one day give to carter as well.
What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Sports, athlete
