And as always, the interview with Rainbow Baby Zoey’s beautiful mom, McKenzie.
What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
I knew I wanted to keep things relatively simple with the colors, but I wanted it to be a fun room that felt playful and not too serious. I was inspired to create a space with both modern lines and a whimsical feel.
What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
I love that Evolur can grow with my baby! They are such beautiful pieces that I know that they will continue to feel classic enough to move from room to room as she grows as well. The pewter color was a huge selling point for me as well because it is so unique and beautiful!
Did the room pose any design challenges?
We are currently renting our home, so that brings on design challenges all on its own. I can’t make any major changes to the space and had to work with what the room had to offer already.
Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
My husband is so sweet about the way I choose to decorate. It has taken me several years to find what I would consider to be my signature style and he is 100% supportive of my style. He likes that the way we decorate brings joy into the space.
What does this color scheme mean to you?
I saw blush and mustard together on a color scheme online and instantly fell in love. I knew that I wanted to play off of that for the nursery by bringing in more shades of pink and introducing the charcoal gray into it as well. I think it feels modern while still feeling girly. I think it is a great color scheme to grow up with my baby because it doesn’t feel like a baby color scheme.
What accessories did you choose and why?
I think the most important accessory in the room is the changing table. I love that the double dresser can become a changing table that is functional and offers so much storage! We use that changing table several times a day, so it was important to me that it was a beautiful piece!
What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
I love all of the family photos in the nursery. I have strong feelings about decorating with pictures. I think it is important to be reminded of those people who really care about us and the special memories that we have. Decorating with pictures does just that!
Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
The crib will definitely be turning into a toddler bed and a full sized bed further down the road. I love the idea of turning the double dresser into a vanity area when my baby becomes a teenager as well!
Is this your first baby?
Zoey is my second child. Zoey is our little rainbow baby. My children are 5 years apart and we planned to have them relatively spaced apart all along, but miscarriage made the space a little bigger than we had originally planned. She literally is our sweet little miracle and we are so blessed to be able to have her join our little family.
What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Joy. It is such a happy little space!
